1 Installing the MVS-8100C
Cognex MVS-8100C Hardware Manual 21
Using Rapid Reset Mode
No special hardware settings are required to use an electronically shuttered (rapid
reset) monochrome camera, such as the Sony XC-55, on the MVS-8100C’s camera
ports 0 or 2. However, for camera ports 1 and 3, the factory default configuration is to
support color cameras. To use a rapid reset camera on camera ports 1 or 3, set jumpers
on the MVS-8100C as shown in Table 3.
Using Genlock Mode
In genlock mode, the MVS-8100C synchronizes to the composite sync (CSYNC) signal
from the camera. When a camera runs in this mode, it generates H and V sync signals
and mixes them with the video signal to produce composite video. The MVS-8100C
strips the composite sync signal from the composite video and locks onto it.
No special hardware settings are required to use genlock mode on monochrome
cameras connected to any camera port. However, you must set jumpers on the
MVS-8100C to use genlock mode for color cameras connected to camera ports 1 or 3,
as shown in Table 4.
Note The Sony XC-003 color camera does not support genlock mode.
