1 Installing the MVS-8100C
Cognex MVS-8100C Hardware Manual 23
Installing External I/O Equipment
You can connect the following peripheral equipment to the MVS-8100C:
One to four trigger pulse generators to trigger image acquisitions on monochrome
cameras
One to four strobe lights to allow MVS-8100C-controlled illumination of the scene
under one to four monochrome cameras
One status output line that can be used by your vision processing application, for
example, to control a parts reject switch.
External camera synchronization signals.
One to four light modules, which allow software-controlled dynamic light adjustment
of the scene under a camera lens.
Trigger and I/O Expansion Panel
To connect trigger, strobe, status, or external sync lines, use the trigger and I/O
expansion panel (P/N 300-0240) included with your MVS-8100C. Secure the expansion
panel to an unused bus slot position on the PC’s back panel. A 25-line ribbon cable
extends from the trigger and I/O expansion panel to the pin block at position J6, in the
upper right corner of the MVS-8100C.

Connect wires from trigger, strobe, or external synchronization equipment to
appropriate positions of the trigger and I/O expansion panel’s DB-25F port, using the
pinout in Table 19 on page 44 as a guide.
